What Is an AI Skill?
An AI skill is a reusable expert persona — a block of system instructions — that you load once so the AI consistently responds like a specialist in that area (for example a senior engineer, a copywriter or a pricing strategist). Unlike a one-off prompt, a skill persists across the conversation, so every prompt you run afterward inherits that expertise.

How to install an AI skill (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
A skill is just text you paste in as system instructions. The exact spot depends on the tool:
- ChatGPT — paste it into Custom Instructions, or create a Project and put the skill in the project instructions so it applies to every chat in that project.
- Claude — create a Project and add the skill as the project's custom instructions (or paste it as the system prompt at the start of a chat).
- Gemini — create a Gem and put the skill in its instructions.
Then just send your normal prompts in that chat. The model now reasons and writes with the skill's expertise applied — no coding, no setup beyond paste.
A quick example
Ask a fresh chat to "design pricing for my SaaS" and you get something generic. Install a pricing-strategist skill first — one that thinks in willingness-to-pay, not cost-plus, and always tests customer archetypes — then run the same request, and you get three defensible tiers with gating logic and upgrade triggers. Same question, far better answer, because the expertise was loaded first.
